about me

My name’s Ashley. I’m from Ontario, and I’ve recently graduated from school and am officially a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. I originally started researching health and nutrition on my own many years ago with a desire to lose weight and have more energy. In a span of a few months I went from omnivore to vegetarian and then to vegan for about 6 months, obsessed over calories and lost a ton of weight . Long story short, I very obviously wasn’t eating enough, felt very sick and weak all the time, and all at once went back to an omni diet and gained all the weight back.

That would be an example of going vegan for the ‘wrong’ reasons. With a genuine love of good food and interest in nutrition, I decided to make a change in my career path and went on to become an RHN. I’m currently working at a health food store which I adore, and I’m finally at the point in my life where I’m ready to make the transition from an omnivorous diet once again, to a vegan diet. This time I’m in it for the animals and for actual health/not weight loss reasons. I’m choosing not to support the meat/dairy/egg industry any more in favour of reducing cruelty, and I’m avoiding the toxins, antibiotics, cholesterol and all that crap that I don’t need in my body. I’m excited to try so many new recipes and get creative with ingredients :)

I’ve miraculously recovered from my soy sensitivity and I can eat it now, but I’ll still only have it once in awhile - so if you’re looking for soy-free vegan meal ideas, you may find some here! I’m allergic to broccoli though, that sucks.

Anyway, enough of my rambling, go look at photos of gorgeous food!
